Leading Revv52, a unique Canadian ensemble, for over 20 years.
He’s as unique as the artists and projects he has collaborated with.
Meet Brian Farrell and it’s clear this man is uncategorically passionate about music and generous in sharing his knowledge and energy. What’s more, Farrell exudes a genuine excitement about the pallet of possibilities life presents. It’s this combination that stands behind his growing success as a vocal coach, educator, artistic director and music mentor.
For Farrell, music lives in the heart. Far from something one occasionally takes off the shelf, music is intrinsic to the fabric of daily life. Farrell’s formal education, which includes his B. Mus. (Hons.), and B.Ed. from University of Western Ontario, as well as studies at Westminster Choir College at Princeton and the University of Michigan and an M.A. from San Diego State University set the stage for his 33 year career. Farrell sought to expand the reach of his creativity and expertise and established Brian Farrell Music Inc. with focus on vocal coaching and artistic mentorship.
“It’s very, very simple. If you can connect with people on the very simplest level of passion, people will do amazing things. Art is so beautiful and engaging—so enriching—it’s something you can never own. It’s meant to be shared.”
Session guests have included the casts of Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Grease, actors Didi Conn, Allegra Fulton, Ted Dykstra, Richard Greenblatt, Jeff Lillico, Dudley Moore, managers Neil MacGonigill and Ed Harris, musicians/songwriters Jann Arden, Paul Brandt, Jason Carter, Lindsay Ell, Denis Grady, Bob Halligan, Kit Johnson, Anne Loree, Raghav, Sarah McLachlan, Steve Pineo, Pierce Pettis, Kalan Porter, Jimmy Rankin, , Meaghan Smith, Ashwin Sood, Tim Williams, jazz singers Vivianne Cardinal and Janet Lawson, pianist Gloria Saarinen, raconteur Lister Sinclair, principal dancer Laura Graham, vocal coach Brett Manning, and triple threat performer Sutton Foster.

As a musical director, he’s guided successful productions such as Theatre Calgary’s presentation of “Our Town.” His name appears in the edition of the World’s Who’s, Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment. He’s the founder of Turntable Creative in Calgary, “a showcase of talent” which he and manager Neil MacGonigill offer artists the opportunity to learn about the roots of art and share their music in an interactive learning environment.
As Artistic Director of Revv52, he has helped establish a unique Canadian vocal ensemble that “pushes the bounds of choral music.”
