Meet Revv52

Akina

Akina joined Revv52 in 2019, and this mononymous powerhouse is loving every minute of it. Originally from the Saddle Lake First Nation, Akina made history in 2007 as the first person to sing 'O Canada' in Cree at an NHL game. When she’s not belting out a tune, Akina is kept extremely busy chasing after her three small children.

Carolynne joined Revv52 in 2011. She’s thrilled to be on stage again with this group of friends who elevate her emotionally and mentally. When not rehearsing, she’s an HR professional with Intact Insurance, keeper of snacks/boo-boo fixer for her son Colson, and wifey to her sweetheart Trevor.

Janet sang in musicals and choirs throughout her youth and joined Revv52 in 2010. She’s a Social Worker who supports City of Calgary employees as the Wellness Consultant in the Operational Excellence Division. She enjoys golf and is an adequate player until money or pride is on the line—at that point, she’ll bring both her A-game and all the trash talk.

Viccy has always had a passion for performing in theatre and finds it difficult to stop grooving where there’s music involved. She loves being on stage with Revv52 since joining in 2017. Viccy is a software developer who moved here from the UK in 2007 to be closer to the mountains. That’s where you’ll find her racing her son on her snowboard or bike.

Heather’s been in Revv52 since she was 19 years old and keeps coming back for more! When not onstage with Revv52, Heather has sung backup for artists like Reuben and the Dark (Coca Cola Stage), and put on her own sold-out show at the Arts Commons in 2019. Heather works as an ICU nurse, and spends her time off either skiing down or hiking up the Rocky Mountains.

Jennele joined Revv52 in 2011. She is so grateful for the music that she continues to make with her closest friends. In addition to being Revv52’s staging director and choreographer, Jennele is an elementary music teacher and mom to two amazing kiddos. She’s also a cake artist, and opened her business, “Cakes By Jennele”, during the pandemic.

Autumn has been performing with Revv52 since 2017. She is a singer, actor, writer, and director, and has appeared in a number of Alberta-based TV and film productions including Joe Pickett and High School. When she isn’t filming, you can catch her in community theatre or dancing at UniverseSoul Dance Studio.

David joined Revv52 in January 2020. He is from England and started singing in a band in his teenage years. He moved to Calgary in 2018 due to his love for the mountains. A “rumbler” in Revv52 since 2015, Dave comes from a background of a cappella comedy, and boasts that he can sing so low that he can put shattered glass back together. “I think I’ll stay down here with the low basses, ’cause I sing notes in low places.”

Olivia has been singing her whole life, and joined Revv52 in 2017. In addition to Revv52, she performs with a vocal group called 'Found'; the group released a cover of 'I Found' on all music platforms in the summer of 2020. When not singing, Olivia works as a stylist at Aritzia Chinook and loves to use fashion as her second creative outlet.

Shannon has been singing since she could talk, joining her first choir at 4. She grew up performing with the Youth Singers of Calgary and became a Revvster in 2024. Balancing her creative side, she’s a CPA by day, building spreadsheets and crunching numbers. Whoever thinks accountants can’t be fun clearly hasn’t met Shannon!

Emma is a skilled and versatile vocalist who joined Revv52 in 2024 after being with the Young Canadians for 10 years. She’s been singing longer than she could walk, and always wants to learn in every way. Emma has also studied music theory, piano, and guitar. Ryan joined Revv52 in 2021. He is a singer, actor, director, and producer known for his work in film and television. Through his production company, MEDIAPOP Films, he has written, directed, and produced several award-nominated short films, commercials, and music videos. Off screen, Ryan’s favourite role is as dad to his daughter, Madeleine.

Bekah, a graduate of Capilano University’s Jazz program, joined Revv52 in 2017. She loves the great people and the opportunity to perform. Rachel is thrilled to have joined Revv52 in 2021. She’s been a total choir nerd for years and has often been seen running around stage as a Disney princess (which is ironic since she really doesn’t like Disney princesses). When Rachel isn’t singing, she can be found working with children on the Autism spectrum, climbing mountains, and on the hunt for new hobbies.

Following a successful business career, Ken shifted his passions for learning, performing, and leadership towards music and song. He joined Revv52 in the fall of 2015, and his own show, ‘Ken Wilson & Friends: An Evening of Vocal Jazz’ was a personal milestone in June 2018. Ken serves on Revv52’s board and several committees and leads the group’s Sustaining Donor program.

John has been involved in Calgary’s theatre community for more than 25 years as an actor, director, and designer. While he usually works behind the scenes as Revv52’s Production Manager, the pandemic provided John with the chance to take on a variety of new audio/visual projects, like live-streaming rehearsals and performing in virtual videos.

Jennele joined Revv52 as a performer in 2011. After years of assisting the group with movement and staging, Jennele became Revv52's resident staging director and choreographer. Before joining Revv52, Jennele spent nearly 20 years as a singer and choreographer with the Youth Singers of Calgary. Jennele was thrilled to win the 'Music Educator of the Year' award at the 2023 YYC Music Awards. She currently teaches music to elementary school students.

Bekah began her music career at the age of 2 with her first song in church. She grew up surrounded by music and was given many opportunities to perform, teach and conduct, including directing her first children’s musical at age 12. She is a graduate of Capilano University’s Jazz Studies program. Besides encouraging her four children’s musical talents, she tries to make space for recording, arranging, and performance opportunities.

Jon began classical piano training at age four and won numerous awards at festivals across North America in his teens. After several years spent traveling, Jon settled in Calgary to teach at Mount Royal University and Rocky Mountain College. These days, he keeps busy as a freelance performer, recording artist, educator, arranger, orchestrator, and composer.

Andrea Timmons

Andrea Timmons is a Calgary born Entertainer, Vocal Coach and Music Director. She is classically trained and studied Music and Vocal Performance at the University of Calgary and then moved out East and successfully completed Sheridan Institute's prestigious Musical Theatre Program. From there Andrea found herself performing all over the GTA in Celtic Rock Shows, singing back-up vocals for Heart, performing countless cabaret shows and finding a true love of vocal coaching. Since moving back to Calgary Andrea has been working closely with Community Theatres where she has Music and Orchestra Directed multiple successful productions. She can also be found collaborating and performing at many corporate events with musicians through Occasional Notes.

Leon Leontaridis

Leon Leontaridis has toured and performed with groups such as: The Canadian Tenors, Destino, Calgary Opera, Cowtown Opera, GhostBoy, piano/violin sensations Roy and Rosemary. Some of his touring highlights include performances in: Carnegie Hall, Beijing Olympics, Miss America Pageant, Children’s Miracle Network. He has performed in cross-Canada tours with The Rankin Family and country star George Canyon. Leon holds a Bmus in Performance from the University of Victoria. Currently, Leon teaches at The Conservatory, at Mount Royal University in Calgary. He is a vocal coach and has worked with performance companies such as Storybook Theatre, Young Canadians, Revv52 and Kantorei.

Madeline has played violin for over 25 years, including 14 years as a violin educator. She has performed with a variety of ensembles and orchestras, including the University of Lethbridge Conservatory Orchestra, Coulee Fiddlers, The Calgary Civic Symphony, Symphony of the Kootenays, Calgary Jazz Orchestra, IL Divo, Disturbed, and Michael Bublé.

Cédric Blary has been active in Calgary's music scene for over 20 years, mostly on clarinet, saxophone, and as a singer with the local a cappella quartet, the Heebee-jeebees. Cédric can be heard on over 35 commercial recordings including the Juno-nominated “Junction City” from Little Miss Higgins. He is also a committed educator, teaching workshops to band students around Calgary.

Jay is in demand as one of Canada’s leading trumpeters, and is a dedicated and passionate band director and educator. When not teaching the next generation of music lovers in his concert and jazz bands, Jay can be found performing across Canada with groups including the Calgary Civic Symphony, the Kensington Sinfonia, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Jonathan Wielebnowski is an emerging Canadian bassist, composer, and bandleader. A graduate of Humber College, Jonathan has performed in several Canadian festivals including the Calgary International Jazz Festival, the Calgary Fringe Festival, the Regina Jazz Festival, the TD Edmonton International Jazz Festival, and the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival.

Augustine is a soloist, chamber musician, and composer who has performed and recorded with many ensembles including The Augustine Yates Piano Trio, The Dennis Kwok Jazz Orchestra, Eulogy Eulogy, Darcy Stamp, and the Robert Lee Ensemble. He began his classical piano studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music, ultimately earning his ARCT diploma, one of the highest degrees offered through the Conservatory.

Jen joined the Revv52 family in 2008. A fan of Broadway, red wine, party-hosting, and dogs of all sizes, she also serves as Past-President on Revv52’s board of directors. Jen has the unique ability to wear multiple hats at once, and manages to look fabulous in all of them!

Olivia Meyer

Olivia has been singing her whole life, and joined Revv52 in 2017. In addition to Revv52, she performs with a vocal group called 'Found'; the group released a cover of 'I Found' on all music platforms in the summer of 2020. When not singing, Olivia works as a stylist at Aritzia Chinook and loves to use fashion as her second creative outlet.

Mallorie Miller

Mallorie joined Revv52 in 2012 and has never been happier. Revv52 allows her to take off her glasses and reveal her alter ego: a super-singer who can leap tall arias in a single breath. Mallorie spends her time caring for her young son and working in long-term care facilities.

Joe has been enjoying music since the age of 7, and has been with Revv52 since 2003. He can be spotted occasionally around town playing piano and singing his own adapted arrangements of familiar pop and jazz tunes.

Sandy joined Revv52 in 2016. Superwoman doctor delivering babies by day and section co-leader for the altos by night, Sandy basically takes care of everyone. Sandy loves every moment of singing with this amazing and diverse group of people.

Bekah Peterson

Bekah, a graduate of Capilano University’s Jazz program, joined Revv52 in 2017. She loves the great people and the opportunity to perform. Recording rehearsal tracks for the group is one of her favourite things. Bekah loves spending time with her husband and their four amazing kids, paddle boarding, mountain adventures, and playing NERTS.

Jennifer (that sounds strange since we all call her JRob) wears many hats. As head of the wardrobe team, Jen ensures we all look fantastic. She’s also one of Calgary’s best veterinarians and wife to bass Michael Birnie. Together, they have two sweet mini-Revvster sons, Bruce and Fergus.

Brett enjoys every opportunity to perform, and loves singing with all the incredibly talented people in Revv52. He has an emotional relationship with Skittles and Coke.

In most Revv52 rehearsals, John has learned to ignore his own name as there are three other John’s in the group. Nevertheless, this John brings his own flair to the ensemble with his enthusiasm, his fun musical arrangements, his beatboxing, his surprisingly boneless dancing, and his love of hats.
