Meet Revv52

Akina

Akina joined Revv52 in 2019, and this mononymous powerhouse is loving every minute of it. Originally from the Saddle Lake First Nation, Akina made history in 2007 as the first person to sing 'O Canada' in Cree at an NHL game. When she’s not belting out a tune, Akina is kept extremely busy chasing after her three small children.

Jody grew up in Calgary's music community, singing with the Calgary Boys’ Choir, Calgary Opera, Storybook Theatre, Young Canadians, Calaway Live, Youth Singers of Calgary, and Calgary Men’s Chorus before joining Revv52 in 2019. Off-stage, he is a manager with the Alberta Energy Regulator and serves as Revv52’s President.

Kevin joined Revv52 in 2023 after being wowed by the group’s 'World On A String' production. His passion for ensemble singing began in grade school and he’s been in a series of choruses non-stop ever since. Coming from a traditional choir background, he’s excited to break out of his shell with Revv52.

Kim joined the Mount Royal Conservatory Choirs at the age of 7, where she sang for 11 years. She continued her training in Mount Royal's voice performance program, studying both classical and jazz music. When not teaching young children music and piano, Kim can be found volunteering and running her kids to their own music programs.

For Michael, Revv52 is family. He started watching Revv52 shows at age six and joined the group in 2009, where he eventually met his beautiful, more intelligent, and incredibly wonderful wife. A big fan of a capella singing, Michael also serves on Revv52's board of directors.

Alec loves the opportunity to switch gears from harmonizing information technology to singing Baritone with Revv52. Alec joined Revv52 in 2017, once his taxi-dad duties slowed down, and loves being a part of the Revv52 family.

Carolynne joined Revv52 in 2011. She’s thrilled to be on stage again with this group of friends who elevate her emotionally and mentally. When not rehearsing, she’s an HR professional with Intact Insurance, fur-mama to Duke, keeper of snacks/boo-boo fixer for her son Colson, and wifey to her sweetheart Trevor.

Janet sang in musicals and choirs throughout her youth and joined Revv52 in 2010. She’s a Social Worker who supports City of Calgary employees as the Wellness Consultant in the Operational Excellence Division. She enjoys golf and is an adequate player until money or pride is on the line—at that point, she’ll bring both her A-game and all the trash talk.

Steph has been singing with Revv52 since 2018. She has performed in a variety of choirs and theatre productions over the years, and is thrilled to be back on stage with such amazing friends. Steph spends the rest of her time chasing her two kids and shaping young minds as an assistant principal at a junior high school.

Viccy has always had a passion for performing in theatre and finds it difficult to stop grooving where there’s music involved—she loves being on stage with Revv52 in front of an audience! Viccy is a software developer who moved here from the UK in 2007 to be closer to the mountains. That’s where you’ll find her racing her son on her snowboard or bike.

Julia was thrilled to join the Revv52 family in 2021. With a minor in Music, Julia has a passion for choral singing and has sung in many choirs, including the Ellison Canadian Honour Choir. When not at rehearsal, Julia can be found working for Alberta Health Services in Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions, hiking mountains, or playing ringette.

Heather’s been in Revv52 since she was 19 years old and keeps coming back for more! When not onstage with Revv52, Heather has sung backup for artists like Reuben and the Dark (Coca Cola Stage), and put on her own sold-out show at the Arts Commons in 2019. Heather works as an ICU nurse, and spends her time off either skiing down or hiking up the Rocky Mountains.

April joined Revv52 in 2022. She graduated from the musical theatre program at AMDA in NYC and has performed in theatres across Canada, most recently at Stage West Calgary. Outside of performing, April's other career is massage therapy. She loves to travel, visit family in PEI, and spend time with her husband and their sweet fur baby, Darla.

Jennele joined Revv52 in 2011. She is so grateful for the music that she continues to make with her closest friends. In addition to being Revv52’s staging director and choreographer, Jennele is an elementary music teacher and mom to two amazing kiddos. She’s also a cake artist, and opened her business, “Cakes By Jennele”, during the pandemic.

Autumn has been performing with Revv52 since 2017. She is a singer, actor, writer, and director, and has appeared in a number of Alberta-based TV and film productions including Joe Pickett and High School. When she isn’t filming, you can catch her in community theatre or dancing at UniverseSoul Dance Studio.

Greg joined Revv52 in September 2021, and is excited to be on stage again with the group. Outside of Revv52, Greg is a husband, father, songwriter, visual artist, marketing director, and mental health advocate. He will be releasing his first EP in 2023.

1991 was a good year. Barb’s first of two children was born. Three months later she entered the Revv52 universe. Fast forward to her retirement filled with family, two golden retrievers, mountain adventures, vocal lessons, Revving, singing with Extremities, and a bazillion other pastimes. Oh, and she is happy to report both sons are fine men and avid Revv52 fans!

Dave started singing relatively late in life and was instantly hooked. He began studying with two vocal coaches, taking online courses, and posting videos on YouTube. In 2022, Dave realized his goal of joining Revv52. He is the proud father of two amazing children, Cassidy and Connor, and loves spending time with his incredibly tolerant wife, Sherry.

Kate has been a member of Revv52 since she first moved to Calgary from Ottawa in 2012. A social work manager by day, she loves the camaraderie, peace, and fun that singing brings to her life.

David joined Revv52 in January 2020. He is from England and started singing in a band in his teenage years. He moved to Calgary in 2018 due to his love for the mountains. When he isn’t singing, you will find him on a snowboard, playing softball, or being used as a human trampoline by his two young children.

Peita joined Revv52 in 2010, having auditioned with a Robbie Burns song where she largely made up the words. She has continued to butcher lyrics to Revv52 tunes over the past decade, but we all forgive her because you don’t mess with someone with a Scottish accent and wild curly hair.

A “rumbler” in Revv52 since 2015, Dave comes from a background of a cappella comedy, and boasts that he can sing so low that he can put shattered glass back together. “I think I’ll stay down here with the low basses, ’cause I sing notes in low places.”

Ian joined Revv52 in 2019. Beyond his love for singing, he is also an aviation enthusiast. Ask him anything about airliners and watch his eyes light up as he gives you a run-down of the best products in the sky! Although he dreams of spending his days sitting in first class, Ian’s other passion is developing leaders as a learning and development consultant.

Olivia has been singing her whole life, and joined Revv52 in 2017. In addition to Revv52, she performs with a vocal group called 'Found'; the group released a cover of 'I Found' on all music platforms in the summer of 2020. When not singing, Olivia works as a stylist at Aritzia Chinook and loves to use fashion as her second creative outlet.

Mallorie joined Revv52 in 2012 and has never been happier. Revv52 allows her to take off her glasses and reveal her alter ego: a super-singer who can leap tall arias in a single breath. Mallorie spends her time caring for her young son and working in long-term care facilities.

Sue joined Revv52 in 2021, after a 20-year hiatus from singing professionally to raise her three sons. She is grateful to all of the extremely talented and welcoming people she’s met in Revv52. In her spare time, Sue likes to paint and has recently become mildly addicted to Pickle Ball. Sue’s hubby makes the best cookies.

A former TV journalist and Young Canadian, Barb joined Revv52 in the spring of 2020. She is an actor who can be seen in many TV shows and films as well as on stage in musicals, dramatic plays, Shakespeare productions, and improv.

Ryan joined Revv52 in 2021. He is a singer, actor, director, and producer known for his work in film and television. Through his production company, MEDIAPOP Films, he has written, directed, and produced several award-nominated short films, commercials, and music videos. Off screen, Ryan’s favourite role is as dad to his daughter, Madeleine.

Jasmin is a vivacious singer/ songwriter soprano, mother of two beautiful girls, and talented crafter. Originally from Germany, has been on stage with bands since she was a teenager and has enjoyed singing with Revv52 since 2019. Jasmin also serves as Secretary for Revv52's board of directors. Bekah, a graduate of Capilano University’s Jazz program, joined Revv52 in 2017. She loves the great people and the opportunity to perform. Recording rehearsal tracks for the group is one of her favourite things. Stuart Quinn

After growing up in choirs, Stu took a 30-year break from choral singing until 2014 when he was bullied into auditioning for Revv52 by Joe Moreau. Highlights have been performing at Carnegie Hall and the Stampede Grandstand Show, and playing violin in Revv52’s “Everything New Is Old Again”. Stu also plays the violin, harmonica, and mandolin, and sings with “The Treblemakers”.

After a brief hiatus from the performing arts, Aidan joined Revv52 in 2023 and is pleased to be back on stage. School plays, choirs, and bands, along with a few years spent singing in the Young Canadians, all shaped him into the artist (and person) he is today. Aidan is also a casual songwriter, and dreams of one day being not so casual about it.

Brendan graduated in 2012 with a degree in Classical Voice, but started University as a saxophone major with the intent of being a band teacher. After a stint singing opera, Brendan switched to pop in 2019 when he joined Revv52. Big thanks to Mum and Dad for not freaking out when their sax-playing band-conducting son said, "I think I'm going to give singing a try."

Shannon first joined Revv52 in 2003, and spent almost 10 years with this amazing group. After deciding with her husband to move their three kids across the world, she spent a few years away, living in and exploring SE Asia and Australia. Eventually the breathtaking Rockies called them back, and Shannon is once again thrilled to be singing with her Revv family.

Rachel is thrilled to have joined Revv52 in 2021. She’s been a total choir nerd for years and has often been seen running around stage as a Disney princess (which is ironic since she really doesn’t like Disney princesses). When Rachel isn’t singing, she can be found working with children on the Autism spectrum, climbing mountains, and on the hunt for new hobbies.

Following a successful business career, Ken shifted his passions for learning, performing, and leadership towards music and song. He joined Revv52 in the fall of 2015, and his own show, ‘Ken Wilson & Friends: An Evening of Vocal Jazz’ was a personal milestone in June 2018. Ken serves on Revv52’s board and several committees and leads the group’s Sustaining Donor program.

John Morgan

John is a conductor, organist, pianist, recording engineer, published composer, and arranger whose work has been performed by groups across North America. John joined Revv52 as Artistic Director in 2019. He's also Artistic Director of Mount Royal Kantorei, Vocal Director of the Young Canadians, and Music Director and Organist at St. Anthony’s Church. When not performing or teaching, he can be found on a long motorcycle trip, looking for his next adventure.

While he usually works behind the scenes as Revv52’s Production Manager, the pandemic provided John with the chance to take on a variety of new audio/visual projects, like live-streaming rehearsals and performing in virtual videos.

Jennele joined Revv52 as a performer in 2011. After years of assisting the group with movement and staging, Jennele became Revv52's resident staging director and choreographer. Before joining Revv52, Jennele spent nearly 20 years as a singer and choreographer with the Youth Singers of Calgary. Jennele was thrilled to win the 'Music Educator of the Year' award at the 2023 YYC Music Awards. She currently teaches music to elementary school students.

As head of the wardrobe team, Jen ensures we all look fantastic. Working with the artistic director and choreographer, Jen and her wardrobe team carefully curate a look-book for each performance, outlining the style, era, colour palette, and other key elements for our outfits. Her goal is to ensure everyone feels comfortable and can express their individuality on stage, while ensuring the group has a cohesive look.

Kit Johnson spent most of his musical career in Toronto, but since his move West, he’s become an integral part of Alberta’s music community. Known for his solid, ‘no-nonsense’ bass playing, he is also an accomplished guitar player, songwriter, and recording producer with numerous Gold and Platinum albums, a JUNO Award, and a SOCAN-award to his name.

Jon began classical piano training at age four and won numerous awards at festivals across North America in his teens. After several years spent traveling, Jon settled in Calgary to teach at Mount Royal University and Rocky Mountain College. These days, he keeps busy as a freelance performer, recording artist, educator, arranger, orchestrator, and composer.
