Revv52 Presents: On Broadway!

Prepare to be spellbound as Revv52 takes center stage, bringing the illustrious world of Broadway to life! Join us for an unforgettable show filled with soaring harmonies that will leave you breathless and inspired.

For this show, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Calgary’s StoryBook Theatre as they lend their expertise in the creation process and even join us on stage to perform a few numbers.

We will have songs for all fans of musicals: classics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim, fan favourites from “Rent” and “Dear Evan Hansen”, and hits from recent Broadway hits like “Hamilton” and “Hadestown”.

Welcome to Revv52’s little slice of the Big Apple!

The last two years have had their fair share of firsts for Revv52. Coming out of the pandemic, we celebrated our 70th anniversary with our first orchestral show, followed by our first country show, and our first all-80s show. And this is another first, as the cast of Revv52 takes on some of your favorite songs from the Broadway stage.

Preparing for this performance has been different than with previous shows. Broadway demands that our singers get out of their chairs and on their feet earlier. It requires that our singers take the time to really learn the meaning and stories behind what they’re singing, and understand their character in a song. It’s been an absolute pleasure to watch our singers rise to the challenge and bring these songs and beloved characters to life. I can’t wait for you to see what we’ve put together!

This year, we are excited to take the next step on our journey by removing the choir risers and bringing a more intimate and engaging experience to our performances. We have empowered Revv52 members to contribute creatively, coming up with concepts while also directing a few of the numbers. This collaborative effort is shaping up to deliver a high-energy staged performance worthy of Broadway. We believe this innovative approach will deepen the connection between our performers and you, our audience, as we bring these stories and characters to life in a whole new way.

We’re incredibly fortunate to be working with members of Storybook Theatre for this performance. What better way to present a Broadway inspired show than collaborating with the incredible local talents in Calgary’s Musical Theatre Community. Huge thanks to their director, JP Thibodeau, for lending his time, advice, and ideas over the past few months.
